Irya Gmeyner is an award-winning film composer, songwriter and music producer based in Sweden. She’s known for her expressive, suggestive music and colorful voice and has composed music for a wide array of media including TV series, films, theatre-plays and choir. Several of her songs have been featured in leading American and Swedish TV series. Over the years Irya has worked with many well-known Swedish artists and musicians as a songwriter, producer and singer.
Lately Irya has been collaborating with the pianist Martin Hederos as a film composer duo. They have been awarded several times for their music for films and TV series. They are best known for their score for Tunna blå linjen / Thin Blue Line, Systrar 1968 and the film Comedy Queen. Their latest score is for the film Slow that premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2023. Slow won in the category: World Cinema Dramatic 2023 – Director Award. They were also selected for a Sundance Composer Spotlight. Irya is also known for her collaboration with the international known contemporary circus company Cirkus Cirkör as singer and composer for several of their international shows. She has toured all over the world with her indie band Irya’s Playground, with the show Inside Out - Cirkus Cirkör. Irya is also the founder of the collective Gipomusic, (Girl Power Music) an artist-run, female-driven collective, record label that she started to connect and strengthen femme creatives in music. Irya and Martin are currently writing music for a new tv series for SVT (Swedish National Television) premiering in 2024. |
