Kimmo Helén FINLAND

Helén began his musical journey at the age of six through traditional Finnish folk music and the violin, later expanding into a wide range of contemporary musical practices. His work avoids rigid genre boundaries, driven by a curiosity for new sounds, instruments, and compositional approaches that serve the emotional core of each project.
He has composed music for films and documentaries both in Finland and internationally. In 2019, he received the Best Original Score award at the Midwest Horror Film Festival for the short film Alisa. His recent documentary score Lynx Man, performed by the Tallinn University String Orchestra and the Head, Ööd, Vend chamber choir, led to a nomination for Film Music Innovation of the Year by Teosto and Gramex. |
