Lasse Aagaard

Lasse Aagaard is a Danish composer, choir conductor and songwriter, born in 1986. He holds a master's degree in film composition from SDMK (graduated 2018), where he now also teaches on the film composition programme.
Aagaard's work as a film composer has taken him across genres and formats. His score for the documentary About A Hero (dir. Piotr Winiewicz, Tambo Film), which opened the IDFA Film Festival in November 2024, draws on modernist compositional music in the tradition of Ligeti and Pärt. For Viktor mod Verden (dir. Christian Arhoff, Hyæne Film, 2023) he turned to melodic jazz in the vein of Bent Fabricius-Bjerre and Jan Johansson — a score that earned him nominations for both a Robert Award and a Carl Prisen. His earlier work has also been recognised with two Ekko Shortlist Awards, for Vi Lader Billedet Stå Et Øjeblik (dir. Esther Wellejus) and Viktor på Månen (dir. Christian Arhoff). Most recently, Aagaard composed the music for the TV series Skibet – Fem Måneder For Evigt (dir. Troels Hansen, Good Company Productions, 2026), and for the feature film Gæsten (dir. Mads Mengel, Monolit Productions), due for cinema release in 2027. Alongside his film work, Aagaard leads the choir BARK, for which he also writes the music — shaping each piece around the ensemble's specific character, strengths and possibilities. In 2025, Aagaard and BARK released the album Favne, featuring a collection of original songs written for the choir. As a songwriter, Aagaard has released music both under his own name — including the 2022 album and album film Farvel Tid — and as a member of the band Den Fjerde Væg, with whom he released four albums between 2010 and 2020.
