Natalie Sandtorv NORWAY
Natalie Sandtorv is a Norwegian composer and vocalist working at the intersection of contemporary music, improvisation, and film. She holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz from the Grieg Academy in Bergen.
Known for her innovative use of voice, texture, and timbre, Sandtorv bridges jazz, pop, and experimental sound. She leads the internationally acclaimed project Neon Ion and has collaborated with artists such as Nils Petter Molvær, Arve Henriksen, and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth).
Her film work as composer and performer includes The Outrun (dir. Nora Fingscheidt, Sundance Film Festival 2024), starring Saoirse Ronan, For Jojo (Netflix), No One Is with the Calves (dir. Sabrina Sarabi), Ohne diese Welt (dir. Nora Fingscheidt), and Håp (dir. Maria Sødahl).
Sandtorv’s work explores the emotional and narrative potential of the human voice in cinematic storytelling.
