Oliver Wegmüller FINLAND
Oliver is a composer for film and television based in Helsinki, whose works include scores for films such as Cannes-nominated ‘Other Half’, BAFTA-shortlisted ‘Stories of You and I’, starring Academy Award Nominee Sir Jonathan Pryce (The Crown & The Two Popes), as well as Jussi-nominated ‘Blue Note’, starring Alma Pöysti (Fallen Leaves).
His recent credits include music for Disney+ and Marcus Anthony Thomas’ ‘Space Plug’, which premiered at BFI London Film Festival; Söder Films’ drama-thriller series ‘Hallonbacken’ (YLE FEM, SVT, NRK, DR), directed by Saara Cantell; as well as Komeetta’s drama-thriller series ‘Lindan Huone’ (YLE TV2), directed by Kaya Pakaslahti.
Driven by his love for experimentation and challenging conventions, Oliver tends to blend contemporary scoring practices and the use of orchestra with electronics, to create a unique, modern sound that feels authentic to him, as well as each story he conveys.
Having lived in London for nearly a decade before relocating to Helsinki, Oliver worked as a session musician before transitioning into composing, with his highlights including recording live at BBC Maida Vale Studios and opening for Paul Simon at The Royal Albert Hall
Oliver has an MA in Composing for Film & TV from the National Film and Television School (UK).
