Simo Pitkänen is a versatile composer and sound designer based in Helsinki, Finland. He specializes in crafting evocative musical landscapes that blur the line between score and sound design. Drawing from a rich background and education in sound design, Simo brings a unique perspective to his compositions, integrating electronic soundscapes with organic sound sources.
His work spans multiple mediums, including film and television. Simo has composed the score for three feature films: Punttikomedia (2022), Häät ennen hautajaisia (2022), and Spede (2023). In addition to his film work, Simo composed the music for the youth TV series Nörtti: Dragonslayer666 (2017-2019), further demonstrating his adaptability and talent for connecting with diverse audiences. Recently he was given the award for "Best Sound" at Linz International Short Film Festival, in recognition for his work on the experimental short documentary film Bright White Light (2024). Driven by his passion for composing and love for film, Simo continues to find new ways of telling stories and moving film audiences through music. |
