Bendik Baksaas was the first student of performing electronic music at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Using samplers and drum machines as his main instrument he compose and improvise minimal electronic music in the genres of ambient and techno.
His reputation as an innovative techno DJ has led to collaboration with Norways top dancers and choreographers, producing music for performances at Dansens Hus and The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. He has made music for the film Harajuku by director Eirik Svensson and the TV-series Unge lovende for NRK. Norways scene for traditional music is a world of its own, every valley has its own rhythm and way of playing. In collaboration with the most expressive and talented young folk players he is taking the old instruments and melodies into a new context, sampling the Hardanger fiddle, rams horn and willow flute. Pushing the music into new directions while always staying true to the tradition. His latest album Seine sviv is an ambient meditation on thousand year old melodies and lyrics from Hallingdal. His ambient album Duets with trumpet player Kristoffer Eikrem, recieved the prize Album of the year by Natt & Dag in 2018.
