Guro Skumsnes Moe NORWAY
f. 12.09.1983
Composer, bass player and vocalist Guro Skumsnes Moe is among the most active musicians and composers in Norway within the borderless music. With a primitive and direct approach she seeks for a physical sound through bass and voice. To search for a sound that is not possible. The instrumental approach has elements of friction and noise, and draw inspiration from concrete music, noise and performance. Moes background from improvised music through contemporary music and rock is remarkable and shows that the boundaries of today’s music is beginning to blur. Her production includes more than 20 albums, music to multiple productions by Plexus Polaires Compagnie (Moby Dick, whice she won the Hedda price for in the catgory Audio visual performance, Cendres, Chambre Noire, Opera Opaque, Signaux), scoring for Amat Escalantes reward winning movie “The Untamed”, which she also was nominated for best score for the Ariel Price in Mexico, scoring for Kerry Mondragons movie «Wetiko» and composing for her chamber orchestra The Touchables, and her world wide touring rock band MoE. Her cross disiplinary concert installation «Resonance Silence» led her to a residency stay at Headlands Center for the Arts, CA, and was shown to great critics at the Borealis Festival for experimental music, Norway in 2022. She has toured continuously since 2006 with her main projects, MoE and Sult, in Europe, the US, Japan, China, Australia, South East Asia and Mexico. Moe co-runs the label Conrad Sound and co-curated the all Ears festival (from 2009-2019). She has released several collections of poems and released a fanzine «Stuntrock #3» on MARHAUG FORLAG. |
