Hanne Hukkelberg NORWAY
|
Hanne Hukkelberg (b.1979) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer linked to Europe’s pop, electronic and experimental music scenes. Hukkelberg began singing and playing at the age of three – picking up the piano, guitar and drums, alongside countless other noisemaking oddities. Hukkelberg’s solo albums are intimate, idiosyncratic music, combining a stylistic range of music with a predilection for unusual sounds and a stunning, versatile voice that has garnered comparisons to Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell and Björk.
Hukkelberg has composed and recorded 6 solo albums which have been released to international claims from BBC, The Guardian, Die Zeit, Züddesche Zeitung, The Wire, New York Times, Pitchfork, NPR, Sunday Times, etc. The albums resulted in year on the road touring in Europe and USA, many times as a support act for her friends in Wilco. She grew up with classical music as well as church and choir music, and you can often hear those influences combined with darker electronica or ambient music in her scores. Early in her career, she began to make music for art exhibitions, dance performances and films, often for her friends. In the middle of her artist career Disney contacted her and she made the song ‘Lucy’ for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The last three years she has regularly made music for film and theatre. |
