Irya Gmeyner & Martin Hederos SWEDEN
HARPA Nominated in 2024 for their score for the TV series "Thin Blue Line"
With an almost iconic theme, the music takes us directly into the social and emotional environment of the series, where we follow Malmö police officers in their work, private lives, and relationships. Marked by sensitivity and humanity, the music portrays ethical dilemmas and dramatic scenes with a contemporary and inviting interface, demonstrating skill in craftsmanship and composition. Throughout the series, the music accompanies the visuals without smoothing over or simplifying, managing to maintain the complexity of challenging issues in its simplicity.
Irya and Martin are an award-winning composer duo based in Sweden. Their creativity and distinctive sound have earned them the opportunity to work with acclaimed directors, composing scores for award-winning films and Tv series. They are best known for their scores for the TV series Thin Blue Line and the film Comedy Queen. The writing process is much about intuition and they try to keep a playfulness in the process all the way through to the finished score. Irya is also a music producer and has a choir singer background and Martin is a trained arranger/orchestrator so they use this to combine their stream of consciousness method with musical structure and more classical voicing.
In parallel with their film work, they are both songwriters and have released solo albums and collaborated with many known artists. Their latest work is scoring for the film Slow that premiered at Sundance and won in the category, World Cinema Dramatic 2023 – Director Award. They were also selected for a Sundance Composer Spotlight.
They are currently working on Thin Blue Line season 3 and a Swedish TV series called Pressure Point that will premiere 2024.
Irya is also known for her collaboration with the international known contemporary circus company Cirkus Cirkör as a singer and composer for several of their international shows. She has toured all over the world with her indie band Irya’s Playground, with the show Inside Out - Cirkus Cirkör.
Irya is also the founder of the collective Gipomusic, (Girl Power Music) an artist-run, female-driven collective, record label that she started to connect and strengthen femme creatives in music.
