Joachim Knoph (born in Oslo 1979) enjoys an active career as a pianist and composer in his home country and abroad, and appears in several cd recordings. As a composer, especially his works for choir have been frequently performed in recent years. Joachim has been composing music for film and tv since around 2005, including feature films, documentaries, tv series, short films, commercials and theatre music. In 2009, he joined forces with Magnus Murel, and they created the company «Norwegian Sounds» - taking on all kinds of scoring assignments from major media companies in Norway. To this day, the company has delivered music to more than 60 films, including five feature films, several tv series and major commercial campaigns for some of the largest companies in Norway. Combining their expertise in this way has proven to be a very fruitful model for their work, drawing experience from a wide range of music, genre, performance, and technical knowledge. Together, they can provide a fully tailored score from early sketches to the final mix, in virtually any musical genre and including live performances by professional musicians. They also possess a wide range of sample libraries for midi programming. Sometimes, they find pleasure also in doing solo projects, enabling them to further develop their individual voice. When approaching a project, Joachim often finds it crucial to keep the «big picture» in mind - making sure that every part of the score in one way or another contains the same sparkle as the score as a whole. And the goal is always to find the emotional «hook» on which to build the score, that one idea that will eventually be the viewer´s gateway to the story. Major projects by the duo includes scenes in the major humour tv series «Dag» with Atle Antonsen and Tuva Novotny, aired in all Scandinavian countries, additional music for the blockbuster tv series «Lilyhammer 2» by Steven van Zandt, sold to more than 100 countries, feature films by the rising star director Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken, complete musical profile for the tv series «Dit peppern gror», and ad campaigns for major companies such as Tine, Circle K, Statoil and S-banken. Joachim received his education from the Norwegian Academy of Music, Barratt Due Institute of Music/Malmö Academy of Music and Ecole Normale de Musique, Paris. |
