Joakim Berghäll FINLAND
|
Joakim Berghäll is one of the least experienced film composers in Finland. His works so far include merely a few short films and ”Kupla”, Finland’s nominee for Nordic Council Film Prize 2023, by the award-winning director Aleksi Salmenperä. A multi-instrumentalist in the true meaning of the word, Berghäll plays over 30 different instruments on the soundtrack of Kupla, to which he wrote 16 original songs all based on the main theme, many with lyrics, in addition to the score.
Berghäll’s background is in an endless interest towards all kinds of sounds, instruments, musical styles, musical traditions of The World, interdisciplinary arts and improvisation. He has toured in more than 30 countries, performed his own orchestral works as a soloist of Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Orchestra, won a Beijing Opera contest in Beijing and recorded with musicians like Ingrid Jensen, Tom Harrell, Wayne Krantz and Marc Ribot. Currently hyping about recording soundscapes in Dolby Atmos and working on a solo record based on ideas drawn from an improvisation on a singing stone located on a distant island in the Finnish archipelago, Berghäll has a tendency to get enthusiastic. You never know, the next previously unheard sound might be just around the corner! |
