LISA NORDSTRÖM (Sweden)

Swedish composer and artist Lisa Nordström works at the intersection of film music, sound art, and audiovisual storytelling. Her practice is defined by a hybrid approach combining live acoustic instruments with electronic sound, where physical performance, texture, and sound design merge into narrative-driven scores. With degrees in classical music and performative sound art, and early roots in the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Midaircondo, Nordström brings a distinctive, hands-on sensibility to cinematic sound.
In 2022, she received the Guldbagge Award (Swedish Academy Award) for Best Original Score and was nominated for The Camille Awards for her work on the critically acclaimed documentary Children of the Enemy. She has also been selected as Composer of the Year by SKAP – The Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Her recent film scores include the Bulgarian feature film The Good Driver by Tonislav Hristov and Før mørket (Safe House) by Eirik Svensson, winner of the Audience Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film and the opening film at the Göteborg Film Festival 2025.
In 2017, Nordström premiered her self-directed music documentary Sonica Sequence at CPH:DOX, exploring site-specific, improvised musical encounters with musicians across Cuba, Japan, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Indonesia. In 2025, she composed the music, binaural mix, and sound design for a new adaptation of 1984 at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, where the entire performance was experienced through headphones.
Alongside her work for film, Nordström has released sixteen full-length albums and composes for radio, audiovisual installations, and concert works. Her practice moves fluidly between composed music, improvisation, and sound-based narration, always shaped by space, context, and narrative intent.
