Magga's music has a clear focus on timbres, melody lines and her compositions are often inspired by her roots from both Telemark in the south and from her Sami roots in the north of Norway.
As a film composer, she has written music for many short films and documentaries, including "The Culture" which won several international awards and was nominated for the Amanda Award in 2019 and the documentary "Dandelion Mom" which was named best documentary during Bergen International Film Festival 2019. Since the winter of 2020, she is the project manager, producer and composer of "Requiem before reconciliation", a requiem for our time, that she created together with the Czech composer Jan Matásek and writer Leif Høghaug. The work is written for choir, soloists, chamber orchestra, church organ, Hardanger fiddle, throat singing and joik. In October 2023, the work premiered at St. Nicholas' Church at Granavollen, Gran county and was performed during Sami Music Week in the Northern Lights Cathedral on February 8, 2024. The work will also continue to several locations in Norway, Europe and Australia. She is a member of NOPA, TONO and the Sami composer unit. She was awarded Sami composer of the year during the Sami Music Awards February 10th 2024. |
