Nils Peter Molvær NORWAY
Nils Petter Molvaer (born 1960) is a Norwegian trumpeter, composer and producer. Widely regarded as one of the most significant pioneers of modern jazz. His debut solo album “Khmer” (ECM, 1997) brought him to the world stage, and marked the start of a unique musical journey.
Having jazz as a creative platform, Molvaer often finds himself in the outer edges of musical styles. Transcending genres, merging them, opening unique sonic possibilities for improvised music. Drawing inspiration from electronica, dub, hiphop, rock, classical, folk, various traditional world music and jazz. After 40 years as an artist, Molvaer has produced an extensive catalogue and has collaborated with some of the finest musicians in the world of music. Molvaer is touring extensively and is currently working on a new solo album. He continues to compose music for film, theatre, and ballet in addition to commissioned works for festivals. His extensive work has awarded him numerous awards. Most notably four Norwegian Grammy Awards, The German Journalist Price (Schallplattenpreis) and The European Film Awards for best soundtrack (Great Freedom, 2021). |
