Timo Kaukolampi & Tuomo Puranen FINLAND
Timo Kaukolampi and Tuomo Puranen have been involved in numerous interdisciplinary artistic collaborations, ranging from experimental bands like K-X-P, Elevators, Opel Bastards to contemporary dance, improvised silent film scores and media art all the way to TV advertising, film and TV-series scores.
With all of the above they have over the years earned a reputation of being able to create ”…a feeling of being in the presence of something powerful just beyond the grasp of our understanding, be it God, Satan, or something deep within us” (Screenwriter and music supervisor from film Marian Paratiisi Jan Forsström).
However much experience-based and well-matured confidence they seem to possess when it comes to their art and craft, they still have enough humble, childlike curiosity to never shy away from ANY collaboration, or disrespect anyone’s vision.
In the 2016’s they finally begun realizing their long-harboured dreams of creating film and TV scores, with quite amazing results so far: "Euthanizer” by Teemu Nikki (It's Alive 2017), which also earned them the prestigious Jussi-award for the best original score 2018. Story about cult leader Maria Åkerblom ”Maria’s Paradise” by Zaida Bergroth (Komeetta 2019). Their first tv-series ”White Wall”, created by Aleksi Salmenperä, Mikko Pöllä and Roope Lehtinen (Produced by Finnish and Swedish national broadcasting companies SVT, YLE 2020). Dark comedy series with retro synth soundtrack ”Mister 8”, (It's Alive 2020) created by Teemu Nikki.
Their upcoming projects include the original score for the near future sci-fi series ”Next Of Kin” (Bufo 2021), created by Minna Panjanen and Valeria Richter. Also in the works is the score for ”The Pure Ones” (Bufo 2021), a documentary film about seekers of the Holy Grail in the south of France, written by Kalle Kinnunen and directed by Otso Tiainen. Henry Moore Selder’s ”Fimbulvinter” gave them a most welcome opportunity to record a Band score, joining forces with extraordinary percussion artist and long time collaborator, Tatu Rönkkö. The film is currently in production, due for release in the future.
