Follow the money

In an international world of film and tv-series and games Nordic composers are working internationally. Sending your score out in the world is also sending your values out in the world.
How do Nordic composers get the full value out of that? And how does their publishers work internationally? How do they follow and collect the money internationally - in games and in tv and film. What are the obstacles? What is working, and what is not working?
And how do the publishers secure that the composers get the full value out of the scores?

Danish Composer Flemming Nordkrog has composed the score for Brazilian 'Shine Your eyes' by Matias Mariani. The film will have its world premier on February 21, 9PM, in the Berlinale Panorama selection.
In ‘Shine Your Eyes’ the music is used very actively for different purposes. The music plays an important role in enhancing the film’s more poetic and abstract layers. In it's narration the film’s drive is much based on music and the music help us getting under the skin of the protagonist.

Coercion in film music business – finally illegal

The terms of publishing agreements into which composers are coerced are far less fair than what could be secured in a truly free and open market. It affects all stakeholders and the quality of the film when money is drained from the system into the pockets of third party middlemen not actually creating the content.
The international panel will look into the phenomenon of coercion in the film industry in light of the new EU law, which has made it illegal, and describe how it affects the stakeholders in the value-chain and the future of film in the EU.
